EGR Valve Interchange 200 1990

Ah, California smog stuff. Two hours to pull a dirty EGR valve. Rear pipe was cross-threaded. So hard to work back there. I have a later valve and pipe from, I think, a 740. This one has what I'm guessing is a temp switch. I'm going to assume the later ECUs had something that was reading this for either diagnostics or something emission/mixture related. Any reason not to bolt this one in to replace the earlier one with no sensor/switch?
