Tire-Size Recommendation when Upgrading to FWD Wheels? 900 1995

My venerable 1995 945 has undergone a number of cosmetic and minor performance upgrades in recent months (see separate threads). I'd like to upgrade the car from its 15" Adhara RWD wheels to larger 17" Propus FWD wheels next. I am concerned about maximum tire size and fender rubbing that is risked with larger FWD wheels.

I just picked up a nice set of spacers (24mm front 32mm rear) that will allow me to fit my FWD BBC/Propus wheels to this car. These particular spacers actually come from mounting the same wheels to a later-model 245.

I accept that the car will suffer speedo error, unless I mount some rubber with the same circumference as the old tire.

The Propus wheels have 225/45R17s on now, but these are pretty worn. I accept that I'll need to buy some new rubber and I'm looking for size recommendations on new all-season/summer tires. A *little* rubbing at full-lock is acceptable, but I want to buy something that won't get rapidly destroyed because they rub everything.

So, speedo error aside, what 17" tires will work on this car?

I have read the FAQ regarding tires and it sorta suggests that I can stay with 225/45R17s, but I'm not positive on that.

Thanks as always
