This repair is truly as crappy as BB'ers report. It's not difficult. It's tedious. There is a tendency to get impatient and start pulling things. And snapping old plastic.
I'm following directions here, and there is a lot more to remove than listed. He's got good directions, but it's hard to take pictures of everything that is necessary to remove.
Remove the instrument cluster. Remove the radio, the center blower vents, then the double plastic tube directly behind them.
If you're smart, unhook and label every wiring connection in the way and get them out of the way. The left side heating shell is crammed in there and there will be a tendency for it to break. I found out mine had been take apart before and repaired with some heating tape and what not.
The motor is out and it won't turn unless I clamp pliers on it and rotate it. The new one spins nice and free!
After my break here, I'm headed back in for the install (IPD motor, resistor, switch kit). Happy to share my overall experience with anyone who's about to do this repair in the days, weeks, months ahead. It definitely blows. Pun intended.
