Installed a new bosch blue coil and ballast resistor in my 1980 lawn ornament hoping it would help sort out some long-standing drivability Issues that I've been trying to sort out since first getting the car. (See here. )
Now I'm getting a very consistent no start when warm. It starts incredibly easy when cold, and will continue to do so repeatedly until it reaches normal temp. After that it's a good 10 minutes of waiting before there's any chance of starting it up again. And even then it only seems to work if I really gun it just as the key spring back into the "run" position from the "start" position. If I give it an hour or so it seems to start up again just fine.
For as long as I've had it, the car has stumbled and bucked when accelerating. Gas mileage has also been consistently bad from the beginning. It does a little better when the idle is set around 1200, but it still stumbles noticeably. Once its going though, it moves just fine at freeway speeds.
So far I've been digging through whatever CIS and ignition fault tracing goodness I can find in the greenbooks over on K-jet.org. Based on what little testing I've done so far, I'm leaning towards some sort of timing issue, but I've also generally not had to mess with spark problems in the past, so this is all very new to me. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.
