I sold some stuff recently and with the money decided to treat myself to a new windshield. Two main reasons: one, there were several spots of rust that needed to be taken care of under it (called the pinch weld?) and two, there was a repaired break at eye level that bothered me. Wow, does a new windshield look nice- like it isn't there!
I paid a little extra to get a USA made windshield- from PPG/PGW. I could not source a made-in-USA one from Pilkington. $250 installed, plus $150 to the body shop for the rust repair. (a splurge!)
Anyway, though it looks good there is a section at the center lower edge of the windshield gasket where it is loose. It is as though there are two pieces of metal that come together under there but miss meeting by about 2 inches so there is nothing underneath to support it. See photo. Is this normal? Or did the installer miss some detail?
Thanks,
Keith Ostertag
