removing cat without removing rest of rearward exhaust possible? 200 1992

My cat is rattling and I am in the process of removing it. I have all the bolts removed and am at the point where I need to separate the tail of the cat pipe from the first muffler. I have broken that bond free but it is still tight. Is it recommended to remove or pull the downstream exhaust pipes/mufflers in order to make space to get the cat out? As it stands now it is sandwiched pretty tightly between the downpipe and first muffler. Will taking the rear exhaust off some of its hangers give enough slack to get the old cat out and the new one in?
