Trouble shooting 1990 240dl gauge lights, meter fuctions and aternator .

Had Gauges out to replace broken Odometer gear.
When I reinstalled I damaged something.
Not sure what, Maybe that Tach wire burned me.
Problems as follows.
No gauges working, No speedometer,temp,nothing!
None of the normal lights that illuminate before start!
The alternator is Not getting +12vdc (D+) from the gauges, not charging battery.
When key is moved to run position the (Overdrive off) light comes on, I turn if off at the shifter. BACKWARDS of normal!
It seems a 12vdc path from IGN switch to the gauges is missing.
A possible transient surge suppressor on the center of the gauge PCB. Anyone wise to it?

No regular fuses are blown. Nothing noticed burned on Gauge pcb.
Working Turn signals, headlights H/L beams,4 way flashers.
Car starts and runs, but missing alternator D+, so drains battery.

I did measure 12vdc arriving at pin 9 (white wire) on gauge round connector 31.
Shouldn't I have 12vdc at 233/3?, blue wire from IGN switch feeding the stuff not working? confusing to me.

Bad IGN switch? bad Gauges?
Any Tricks to get me moving forward?

jack
