Hey guys!
I've pulled so many parts off of the essentially MINT 82 242 turbo in the PNP. Not much left at this time. However, some questions.
1) Today, I pulled this jiffy little plastic part of the splash pan underneath that directs incoming air more forcefully from the front air dam to the radiator. $3.00 couldn't pass it up and it fits perfectly. None of my other normally aspirated cars/wagons have that.
2) I pulled the rear quarter windows because I was so enamored by the beautiful chrome latching mechanism of these pop out windows. However, since I'm not a sedan/coupe guy, I'll likely have them in the attic for another decade. Are these valuable to anyone else?
3) The oil cooler was still there, although some bone head unscrewed the braided hoses at the cooler itself, and then cut the hard lines to the oil filter housing where it connects to the oil filter mount. As such, I left the cooler in the yard and want to know if I should spend the $10 bucks and go get the whole set up. My concern is that the wagon that's receiving all these parts is NOT turbo and is never driven in a manner that would really warrant an external oil cooler. I wonder if this is just adding more parts to the car that are essentially unnecessary, but more importantly, have the increased liklihood to have some kind of oil leak from the cooler itself (looks good), the lines, the oil filter mount etc. I am handy enought to install and make it work, but I wonder about just creating a situation that might result in a catastrophic engine failure because an oil cooler hose leaked, a gasket leaked, the cooler core gave out..etc.
4) The car has some sweet electric mirrors whereas my wagon does not. I do not object to taking the mirrors, but I wonder if I'll need the harnesses too. I have the switches for the mirrors, so no issue. Does Volvo put harnesses in all the cars regardless of whether or not they get electric mirrors, or will I need to hunt all that stuff out of the doors etc? And, would it be worth the effort? I have to tell you, I wish I had roll up windows instead of electric. PITA those can be. I love the simplicity, but for the few bucks these items cost, it's hard to pass up.
Thanks guys!
