what does this plate used to reinforce the clutch cable outlet at the firewall look like 200

hi sages- been reading about clutch cable movement at a weak point on the firewall causing difficult clutch releasing and hard shifting, especially into first. want to anticipate this problem in my 92 240 wagon and get one from the hardware store. firewall hasnt cracked yet but seems likely down the road. how would you adhere the plate to the firewall? thanks tons oldduke
