Blown/corroded Fuel Pump fuse - symptom of failing main fuel pump? 200 1993

My 1993 245 died suddenly, and the immediate cause was a blown #6 fuse (fuel pump)

The 16A fuse and its bracket were both corroded badly, so I had to clean it with a pocketknife to get to raw metal. The other fuses are clean.

Is this a sign that the fuel pump(s) are failing and overloading the fuse? Do I need to replace the main or in-tank fuel pump?

(I live about 45 min from any mechanic shop, and 3 hrs. from the closest Volvo repair shop, so need to plan ahead)
