Dist cap and rotor question 200 1990

I went to switch out my distributor cap and rotor. Did the cap, replaced the wires one by one on the new cap, but when I got to the rotor it won't come out. I had assumed it was like some other cars I owned and it would just pull up and off, but this one won't budge. What am I missing?
