Black Alternator Wire? 200

Hello board! 1989 240 wagon. 113K on clock. Still taking care of as much maintenance as I can to get this car reliable for daily use. Today's issue seems to be a loose black wire coming from the loom under the front crankshaft/harmonic balancer which clearly attached to the alternator at one time. The other red wires all seem to be attached, yet this thinner black wire just sits unattached. No idiot lights or charging issues or concerns. The alternator seems to be a Bosch reman (World Class in Germany). Thanks for leading me in the correct direction.
