It's a '84 DL wagon w/auto trans and 333k+. I had to do a bit of work to get my car through smog (California). I replaced the gas cap, all the hoses in the evap system, the PCV hose, and the gasket for the gas tank sender unit. While I was at it I looked around the engine and found the hot wire in the air mass meter was broken (replaced), The throttle position sensor was iffy (replaced) and, FTHOI replaced the injector seals. However, when I pulled the sender I found the in-tank fuel pump filter so degraded that it was almost non-existent. After I replaced it the main fuel pump was noisy for a while (it stopped being so noisy after about 10 miles). At first the car would not run well when it was cold. That lasted for about 30-35 miles around town but now it sputters and sometimes nearly stalls every time I push the throttle even when it's fully warmed up. When I back off the throttle it runs normally. I bought it with 210k on it and haven't replaced any of the pumps, and I can't remember when I replaced the fuel filter but it can't be more than 20k. Any ideas?
