hi sages- my 92 volvo 240 non turbo wagon with the 5 speed manual transmission is in good condition. have checked around town mpg since i repaired the odometer. vehicle is in very good condition and engine is smooth and tight with 220k miles. mpg is 24-25. dont know highway mpg yet, havent taken a long trip. does anyone know the epa mpg rating . havent been able to find it. betting it is 23/29 for this model. know that manual trans typically has a major positive effect but figure the wagon configuration and greater weight would have a negative effect compared to the sedan. manual trans has a 5th gear overdrive of 20%(.80 to 1) and a 3.3 differential gear. do other sages here have similar mpg experience? have heard that volvo automatic like most automatics pulls the mpg down 3-5 miles. actually never saw any automatic in the last 40 years that equalled or bettered the mpg of a stickshift in an equivalent car american or foreign, despite what some alledged experts and dealer salsesmen have told me. thanks tons for what you know oldduke
