I took an original rim from my 140 to a auto wheel specialist for straightening and sandblasting. After removing the tire, they discovered a section of the rim had been repaired with a large weld. They said it looked like the rim was severely damaged and necessitated the repair to fill in the gap. The repaired area looked thinner than the rest of the rim. They strongly recommended me to get rid of it.
I hate to trash an original 140 rim but I also don't want something that could be unsafe. Have any of you run into this situation?
I do have five original rims total, so I'm still rolling.
