I cannot get the idler pulley loose on the B230F in my 91 240. I bought a new pulley and seals as well as the belt but so far every fastener has fought me to the end with me feeling scared about either stripping the head or the actual bolt/stud breaking off....so far not the latter but I was wondering before I really give the idler nut hell if there is a chance it could break off?
I've never done the timing belt before but are these fasteners supposed to be this tight? I'm a big strong man at 6'3 240# so I can put the force on if I need too....believe me the crank pulley needed all 240+ of me to get that sucker loose....unreal. When all this goes back its getting proper torque.
So, any tips on removal of this nut? What about a little heat? Will the heat ruin something behind the bearing? I'm changing it anyway. Its been soaking with PB blaster but there is no apparent rust or corrosion on the nut surface anyway....
Thanks...
