I purchased a 1986 mint condition 240 DL 140,000. First I tried to sign up on this site and had no luck, internal server error message? Ill try to post in order of my questions and actions.
I need an engine wiring harness, it obviously is biodegradable, If I can be considered as a friend here I would appreciate any help in retaining one this vehicle is in to good of condition to scrap out.
I replaced infamous oil trap it was original never serviced. I cleaned hoses & intake ports and oil cap gasket, all replaced a few days back, ok oil separator box was not replaced (I should have) so quess which seal blew out today? I was lucky and found the rear cam seal sitting on the frame and no fire.
I will try the oil cap shaking while idling trick after the seal is put back. BTW do I push this seal back in or does it need some type of sealer such as rtv? I saw the retention plate on ipd and was considering ordering it to keep the seal in place? Is this a waste of money? I am buying the flame kit extension kit for this, sounds like a good $20 spent.
My OD transmssion slips or sometimes works, I was asked to post what is the best way to shift into OD with oe without clutch, I use clutch. I put a call into the recommended OD guy "Ted" I am awaiting a return call for the M-46 unit. Fluid was changed with ATF by a mechanic who knows these vehicles he suggested driving for a few days to see if issue resolved, he services Volvo and advised me the oil ring seals eventually fail and may need overhaul. He siad fluid was a little low but no metal particles on the plug. Was impressed with conditon of vehicle.
Fuel guage is not working I susupect sendng unit in tank? I will attempt to find ground wire and disconnect to see if gauge tops out to eliminate gauge cluster.
I filled this vehicle with gas after I used it a few days, In city driving is 29 mpg OMG it drives good it just needs a few items to keep going!
