Hi guys,
Sorry if my searching of previous posts was inadequate to find this answer, but I'm swapping the automatic trans (fluid-belching anchor that it is... was) in my 67 wagon with an M41 (D-type OD?) unit.
Extraction from the donor car and everything else had been going fine until I noticed that the release bearing was seized onto it's shaft (which is probably why the owner of the donor car installed a brand new master and slave last year before he retired the car).
Turns out the generous helping of penetrating oil wasn't any help when it came time to try and tap the bearing off -- the front bearing cover of the tranny (apologies if there's a proper name for this part) actually broke before the bearing budged.
Any idea if this part might be available on it's own, or any idea of where I might find one without having to source an entire transmission?
I appreciate any guidance and/or abuse anyone can offer?
And while I'm at it, is there a favourite clutch kit out there?
FWIW, I'm in the Toronto, Canada area.
