I'm back after a 5+ year hiatus. Although retired, I stupidly returned to the workforce on contract. Here's just one of my problems, after leaving my B4B PV444 garaged.
Does anyone know if the 1953 vintage starting circuit used some sort of starter relay? The starter will not turn over the engine and appears to dead short my electrical system. Lights, fan initially work until I try to start the engine - I hear a click then everything goes electrically dead. I have already tried 2 other starter motors with the same results. I'm using a 6V 100A engine start charger but possibly the battery, over the storage years is toasted. Today I will try my Amazon's 6 volt battery.
A few years back I tried to start the car, but I suspect the coil is also toast - a pre-Bosch AutoLite coil and ignition switch! The Carter down draft is likely clogged, so my work is cut out for me this year! Glad to be back and only having to deal with simple mechanical issues.
