I have a set of used de Carbons front strut cartridges I pulled from a 1984-85 turbo 240 wagon last year. By the date code, a prior owner of that junked 240 wagon replaced the original strut cartridges with the two orange de Carbons for Volvo 240. I want to install these de Carbons on my 1990 240 DL wagon.

These orange de Carbons appear a match in form factor to the yellow Bilstein HDs.

I'm going to install these de Carbons, new front Meyle strut mounts (I'd advise against Meyle Volvo 240 strut mounts, only Volvo OEM or SKF), and keep the dirt out strut boots.

This install is a quick and dirty affair so I can safely drive the beast to Volvo 240, bicycle friendly, and educated and attractive PacNW women in Portland, OR. The driver side factory OEM strut mount has failed. I'm still unemployed after two years, so a quick, dirty, and cheap affair.

The used gland nuts that came with the de Carbons are questionable. I'd rather not reuse them.

I have one Bilstein gland nut as you can see in the attached image I just added to the bb gallery. PN B36-816 B1. This gland nut is one of three that came with the Bilstein HDs when I went to install them into the 1991 240 I have in 2001. You'll note the seal built into the gland nut.

I've performed some calling around and no luck, so far.

When I rebuilt the 1992 240 GL front suspension in late 2011 (with ABS), I dry fitted one orange de Carbon with this Bilstein gland nut. A perfect fit. Gland nut screwed all they way in using up all gland nut thread with adequate gap above the thread to the exterior shoulder. So it WILL fit the 1990 Volvo 240 DL. That Volvo 240 GL received the Bilstein touring shocks. I would have preferred Konis or Bilstein HDs, yet no job in over two years.

So, anyone know where to get this Bilstein HD Volvo 240 gland nut, please?

Would anyone have one matching, unused.

I'll continue to search.
