After I got my strut inserts replaced I could feel a big improvement in suspension. The el cheapo mechanic didn't torque any of the bolts and nuts to spec other than the lug nuts on the wheels, so I did that a couple of days later, namely loosening the three nuts on the camber plate, as they were too tight (the ones which hold the strut up). Not long after that, perhaps another full day and a half of driving, I started hearing clunking coming from that same area when I went over bumps. After another day they seemed to be really just clunking away now every time I go over a bump.
Could it be that the gland nut wasn't torqued high enough? (I can't check unless I buy a socket of its size). Or are the torque specs for those strut mount bolts at the top of the wheel well too low for whatever my car is needing?
I know it could be the a-arm bushing but i never seemed to hear a clunk of this intensity until after the strut replacement. Just wondering if anyone's had this problem before. THANKS!
