Hi all,
As part of my 1974 144 rally project I'm going to relocate and replace the fuse panel to the centre dash, roughly where the radio slot and ash tray are. I was planning on using a fuse/relay panel from a 940 because a) it has lots of extra fuse places that I need for additional electrics, b) it locates relay postions that I will need nearby and c) it is a Volvo part and I have one from a 1992 940 in front of me.
The wiring to the fuse panel attaches with push-on connections which make it really easy to rewire. My question is: is it better to solder the wire in the push on connectors - which in the massive vibrations of a rally situation might give rise to metal fatigue - or to crimp them. If I crimp them, should I use some sort of conductive grease around the wire? Most of the connectors I've seen look aluminised rather than raw copper - maybe even just made of aluminium - which might corrode with the copper wiring.
Regards
