1980 240 DL Transmission wont shift out of first 200 1980

Recently transmission was overfilled by my son. Transmission was acting up(weak reverse and bad shifting) drained fluid and reset to proper level, and replaced filter while i was in there. Every thing worked fine for a week or so. Now I only get reverse and first gear, won't shift up to 2nd. Tried manually running through gears no luck. Any thoughts?
