The out-of-town Volvo mechanic who maintained this '93 940 base wagon (before I bought it) suggested spraying the rear suspension bushings with "rubber lubricant, available at parts stores."
Here's why - for the first few miles each day, I hear a noise coming from the rear that sounds like somebody rubbing his hand across an inflated balloon, kind of a "skwonk-oop" sound. Steal your kid sister's balloon and you'll hear what I mean.
Anyway, I'm going to ask a non-Volvo repair shop (no choice) to spray the bushings, but I wanted to ask you good folks -
should he just carefully spray the metal shafts that go THROUGH the bushings, or should he just point the can at the bushings and mash the spray button?
Thanks
