how do you loosen the dipstic coupler? 200

I can't seem to loosen the coupler at the transmission pan that is from the dipstick....

I'm wanting to change the filter and gasket and then do a flush but first I feel like I must loosen the big coupler that runs into the pan....I've tried and tried and I'm starting to strip the smaller nut....Any good tricks to getting this dang thing off?

If all else fails can I drop the pan with it in place after I remove the brace bolt above? Might be easier...if this wasn't easy enough already but the simplest things sometimes cause the most grief....like this for eg....
