Just had my car in the shop and got new valve cover seals, oil cap and rear cam seal due to and apparent oil leak. Got it back and drove it home then drove out of town today up to Portland ME, from Providence. While driving downtown my brake failure light came on. The brakes felt fine but at the next light i decided to try to see if the petal would go down more with extra pressure and sure enough it did. Not east but more they usual. So I pulled over and checked the brake reservior and the front chamber was about half on the MIN. line. I just checked it due to the oil leak a few days ago and both chambers where just right below the MAX line. So I drove a little further to get back to my hotel and checked it again and the fluid was even lower. The rear chamber is still just below the MAX line.
I am guessing this is caused by a leak in a line somewhere but as its dumping rain out I couldn't tell if there was fluid coming out. My main question is that since tomorrow is Sunday and I can't get it checked out and have to drive home, can I top of the fluid and since most my driving home is highway without a lot of braking, drive it home safely?
I know thats not an easy answer but is topping it off with fluid and then checking the level after ever few stops safe on the system?
I am hoping my new mechanic didn't mess up something while working on the car, seems strange that i haven't had any brake problems and then the day after i get it back the brakes fail!
