Fuel pump and other woes 200 1986

Well, the 300k main fuel pump finally bit the dust in the middle of traffic and 100+ degree weather down here in Myrtle Beach, SC. I heard the darn thing squeal a couple of times and felt a big vibration up through the armrest just before it crapped out. The problem was not having any of those spare anymore and having to buy one.

I checked prices on line then checked my retirement money. It didn't take long to figure that a $300 dollar Bosch unit was not going to go back in this car! Since it is not very plausible that I will have this thing for another 300k miles, I opted for a replacement that came in at $61.00 and installed it yesterday. The old girl is back on the road with a 100 mile round trip up to the country for a piece of furniture. I was enjoying the cold AC and the truck like road noise at 70 mph when, all of a sudden, the speedometer started working after about 60k miles of not. Someday I'll have to fix that also.

Regards,
