I recently bought a '93 240 wagon that had been improperly jacked up by the previous owner to change a tire. The result was that the lip of the rocker panel (front passenger side) was bent up. After I bought the car I poked around with a screwdriver and found that the damage had resulted in rust forming where the floor met the rocker panel on the underside of the car. I punched through the undercoating with the screwdriver and knocked out most of the rotted areas which were two holes about the size of my fist and an area in between the two holes. I took it to a body shop to have it repaired, thinking they would weld in the metal patch. When I picked up the car I was told that they used "glue" to put the patch in and that the glue was stronger than a weld. Just wondering if this is true . . . especially since the bill for the repair was expensive.
