I got the fuel pump issued sorted out on this '93 940, but there is a terrible lag, stall, hesitation, or whatever one wants to call it off the line. It's so slow that it is sort of dangerous trying to get into traffic.
The transmission is definitively starting in 1st gear and I verified it by placing the shifter in 1st and had the same result.
Once the car gets going under full acceleration, it shifts sort of hard into 2nd at about 30 miles per hour with a sharp yank like many AW7X's seem to do.
I'm not certain if the transmission is an AW-70L or 71L (haven't crawled under the car yet). I'm assuming that it's a 70L. The lockup torque converter is locking up once up to highway speeds.
The car has about 200K on it. The kickdown is adjusted correctly and the fluid is fairly new.
Any ideas what may be causing the lack of pull off the line? It seems to do OK once up to 25 or so as mentioned above.
The exhaust isn't blocked and has good flow.
I did get a 2-3-2 self adjusting oxygen sensor code that tripped a check engine light. Could that be the source of the problem?
Thanks!
