Auto Trans Shifting Issue 200 1992

Among a few of the things I noticed while cleaning up the Princesses' wagon is that, under most driving conditions, the 1-2 shift on the auto-box is quite harsh (it almost bangs into gear) whereas the rest of the shifts up and down are almost seamlessly smooth. I don't recall this issue on my other 240s, though it may have existed, and i just got used to it. Is this peculiar to this transmission, or is there something I should be looking at, such as a vacuum- or electrically-operated shift modulator that's in need of cleaning or replacement?
