Losing coolant and nearly overheating 200 1986

My 1986 240 has an odd issue - It's not holding coolant and as a result will get very close to overheating.

Replaced hoses & thermostat - no visible coolant leaks, drips or pools. no steam or smoking either.

Suspected headgasket failure so I had my mechanic do pressure check and they all checked out just fine plus there is no white smoke, milkshakey oil or any oil in the coolant.

low miles and runs great with this exception.

There is a faint coolant odor both inside and outside the vehicle.

Please help! Thanks!
