Swapping front seats on 1992 745 700

I am planning to swap front seats on my 1992 745. New and old seats are manual adjust. Both are heated. While the rails etc seem to be the same, I have been told that the 1992 seats are different from earlier models and cannot be interchanged. I know I have to change the seat belt installation; mine roll up into the pillar; the donor seats roll up on the side of the frame. That looks simple. What else need I be aware of? Should I disconnect the battery to avoid air bag problems?
Is there an FAQ about this?
