1989 head and block pics questions 200

I know volvos but this is my first cylinder head gasket adventure.Some of the coolant passages have some crud in them.If I clean this out and some falls in the hole will it flush out when I open the drain petcock? Also note one piston is lighter in color.I guess this where the gasket failed?

Also the head has no warp to it when measuring with a straight edge.Do I just have the head hot tanked and cleaned up by the machine shop?Also the gasket kit came wuth a bunch of seals,I guess for the valves.Do I give these to the machine shop and have tehm install them?Like i said I have never done a headgasket on any of my volvos.TIA
