Hey all. My fuel pump on my 240 (B23F, LH2.1) blew its armature seal and started leaking between the crimp on the fuel pump itself. I pulled a replacement today from a 94 940 turbo at the junkyard because I figured a 10 year newer pump would be in better shape.
Can I interchange the two? I assumed I could, and everything hooked up properly.
I just spent twenty minutes trying to get it to run, and it would die if I cracked the throttle, and was barely running. It was also hard to get started, taking three or four tries to get it to start.
I know the pump could be bad, but it sounds normal when I jumper fuse 5 to fuse 7.
Also, I probably have quite a bit of air in the system, but I think it would work itself out pretty quickly. I left the pump jumpered for a few minutes, after I removed the clamp I put on the soft tank to pump feed line.
Cheers!
PS I should point out that the car did this intermittently before I replaced the fuel pump relay with a spare that the PO gave me. There was some corrosion on the windings of the original relay. It had started reliably ever since replacing the relay though.
