I'm replacing the original catalytic converter with a Davico DV-008. (The old one was being held in place with only one not totally rusted through bolt and the connection leaked) The pictures below pretty much tell the story.



The question: does the iron doughnut (seen with the new cc), which FCP's website insisted was indispensable in fitting the thing to the down pipe, have a role in this installation? I can see how it would fit between two flares, but not between a flare and a bubble.
So, I'm assuming the answer is no, but I want to make sure I'm right before I go out to buy the bolts: their length being the issue.
