Sooo... I got a new set of gauges for my '90 240... I got so excited to install them I failed to take care and read any installation tips... I didn't disconnect the ground at the battery. I pulled the old gauges, installed the new ones... Pulled the big old broken clock and put in a tach from an '82 turbo.. The only wires I know I plugged in correctly were the full round and half-round plugs. I'm pretty sure I plugged the red/white into the base of the tach, one of the three prongs at the top of the tach, the double (cruise control) prongs next to the speedo etc... I understand I fried everything gauge related... I drove without gauges functioning for about a week... some component of the charging system stop function and the battery was drained... I had an extra new battery and new alternator in my shop, so I swapped those in. repeated the debotchery of the first half of this post and now have irregular charging showing on my 52mm volt gauge... sometimes 11 volts, sometimes it pops up to 13.5...
What have I done?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
