help!! - ECU problem on 1991 volvo 240 200

Hello,

My mechanic is very thorough and told me that I have a problem with ECU, which according to him, is expensive.

Is there a any way to set or repair this? Can I go to the junk yard and pick one up?

By the way I have another identical 1991 volvo 240 and plan to take the ECU out and test in the problem car to make sure.
