Ignition Coil Too Hot? 200 1983

Have an early 80's 240 that usually runs great. Every once in a while the fuel pumps will just shut off while driving and stall the car. Usually it will start right back up again or certainly within a minute or two and run ok. I put in a new fuel pump relay thinking that was the problem but it still does it.

I've noticed that the ignition coil gets really hot and was wondering if that could have something to do with it? I've heard that if the ECU senses a problem in the ignition circuit, it will shut off the fuel pumps. Does anyone know how hot the ignition coil should get or if this could be my problem?

Thanks a lot
