1992 240 - won't start - disappearing flash codes 200

To be brutally honest, my '92 240 has had intermittent problems starting for awhile, but it seemed that it was only when it was really hot (or with apologies to those in Texas or Mexico, what seems really hot when you are in Cincinnati OH.) After awhile, sometimes even if it was still really hot, it would start and the next day or at night almost always.
Well, today it is not all that hot and I went to start my little mule, only to have the same thing- turn over fine, no start. I read the flash codes and got 1-2-1(AMM) then 1-3-3 (throttle switch idle or faulty ground). So, I disconnected the battery ground to clear it and then tried again to get 1-1-1 (no fault). Sweet - it cured itself. Well, except that it still didn't start, in fact it didn't do anything. So, I cleaned the ground terminal on the battery(which is about 2 years old) and it turns over and almost starts, but not quite.

Most of the posts on the AMM seemed like they indicate rough running which I haven't experienced, only occasional no-start. Think that is a likely problem? If so, I read the posts on checking the voltage but is there someplace to look where I can see exactly how to do that, since I think I can find the AMM easily enough but am clueless what to do next!

appreciatively
