Today the Volvo didn't want to start after it had been parked for about 20 minutes; just cranked, didn't fire. This has happened a few times before, maybe a couple of times a year. I've discovered it would start after I removed and replaced the fuel pump fuse. I also remember once in a while it would start but not go much above idle when I stepped on the gas, just creeping along. After a few seconds it would pick up and run fine. I posted about it here at the time, but don't recall getting a response.
Anyway, how would removing and replacing the fuel pump fuse make it start while just turning the ignition off and then on again after a minute not have the same effect? Can anyone explain what's happening here? I do suspect the above two symptoms are fuel pump related since the car has almost 500k klicks and I've found no record of the fuel pump ever being replaced.
