How do I remove the bellhousing/input shaft seal? 200 1991

I have the bellhousing and the transmission split and want to replace the seal that sits in the bellhousing and goes around the transmission input shaft. This is the seal with the little notched metal ring that goes around the outside. I've pulled and pried a bit and it's not budging. I don't want to force it, is there a trick to it?
