Stalling issue 1991 940SE 900 1991

My daughter's 940SE wagon has had an intermittent stalling issue for the last couple of years. I could make it happen by accelerating hard from a standstill and then immediately decelerating suddenly. A week ago I cleaned the TB (the small port to the EVAP canister was blocked) and pulled the idle controller and soaked it with throttle body cleaner as best I could. I can no longer make it stall. She's about to head back to college, so I'm hoping for some confidence that I've really fixed it. Can that blocked port or a dirty Idle Controller cause stalling? (With the idle controller it's hard to tell if I even cleaned anything since I can't see inside.)
