Alarm bell will not silence. No idiot lights on. 900

This morning my wife left for Kentucky on a ten hour trip in the 1997 960. The car is loaded to the max with clothes and gear since we are moving to that area of the country. The problem is that for the first time ever the darned dinging, key left in the ignition, door ajar, seat belt warning bell did not silence. She has checked everything including the seat belts in the back seat, the cat carrier in the front seat, key, doors ajar, everything, and the bell is still dinging.

Any clues?
