I hope to find some advice. I am looking at getting rid of the K-jet in the GT. It's been driving me nuts. I am also in the search for more power. I am thinking about getting a B23 maybe B230 block with a Volvo Penta 531 head. So, the K-jet must go. I found a manifold from an AQ131 with the single Solex carb. Does anyone know how much power one can expect from this carb? I can't find how much air it flows (cfm) or anything. Or would my better bet be to try to find a manifold from a AQ151 with the duel carb set up? I think those are SU carbs? I have no idea. It seems like for ease of things the manifold with the single Solex carb might be the easier way to go. For sure cheaper and easier to find. Any input would be much appreciated. Yes, I could go with FI and a mega squirt set up but, I'm not sure I really want to do all that.
Any other ideas or options out there? I'm trying to do this on some what of a budget and, without much manufacturing stuff. That's why I want to stay with the B21,23,230 block, etc. Pretty much a drop in. Would a B30 drop in? There was a FI B30 sitting in the junk yard last time I was there. Could convert that to carbs. That seems like even more than I'd want to do unless it would directly drop in. Just thinking, the old B21 is getting tired and the K-jet has been driving me nuts. Although, I do drive this car everyday for now. So, it has been very reliable!
Oh, and the original owner had the AW70 swapped in about 20 years ago by some Volvo shop in the Denver area. Thinking I'm going to keep it Auto even though a 5 speed would be more fun.
THANK YOU
