Probly wasting 'your' time 200 1989

Just trying to get this fixed.

The fast idle--still doing it. Not one Volvo repair shop that Ive been to, (3 of them) has an answer. Symptoms: When and if I drive at faster pace especially if I use the “passing gear” on the freeway., OR accelerate a little hard in town THEN when I come to a stop the vehicle is at least 1500rpms idling. IF I then turn off the engine and back on again, idle is normal, about 800 rpms until the next time I accelerate 'medium fast' to fast.

Had some sensors replaced, 3 I think, also the AMM , and the computer. I had the instrument cluster replaced but that’s mainly cause the gauges acted up a bit and I found a good one at a great price.

Sitting still in the car at normal idle and just hitting the accelerator while in neutral or Park will NOT cause the fast idle NOR will it reduce a fast idle. . Next in mind is perhaps change the computer once again (it was a supposedly “good used one:) . The other sensors I bought such as the throttle switch are all new BOSCH. Other than that fast idle the brick runs very smooth.

I can accelerate say to 65 mph somewhat slowly on the freeway and it will stay at normal idle when I stop. As long as I don’t accelerate too fast the normal idle stays. There is one other 'thing', If I am on freeway and kick it down to the 'passing gear', the trans will kick down and I can hear the engine pick up, BUT--it will not accelerate well-almost as if it was literally being held back from accelerating. .

Does same also in town like it will kick into “passing”gear” at about 20 mph -but has a real hard time accelerating.

BTW, all plugs,-cap-rotors all recently new. Fuel pump fairly new. I don’t expect anyone to have an answer, just pondering this here in the 'Board but thought I'd give it (another) shot. Thanks.
