Well folks, I am done with the replacement of the motor and resistor. I owe Art Benstein a debt of gratitude! Wow, the step by step instructions he has on his site are amazing! I found a Siemens blower motor on Ebay for $39 with free shipping and ordered the resistor from FCP. All in all, not a frustrating job, just a lot of work. It would have been really intimidating without Art's photos and instruction. While it is still fresh in my mind, a few observations! The hardest part was getting the clips off (and then back on) the blower fans I didn't have an angled pick and that would have made a difference . Getting them back on, involved realizing there is a slot on the shaft, and not a continuous channel around the shaft, which was a large source of frustration. Secondly, I didn't initially see that the blower shaft and the fans have a squared area to slide the fans completely onto so they don't spin freely. It helps to feel the end of the shaft once the blower is bolted in and look at the fan to line it up. Other than that, it went very smoothly. I now have four speeds of fan and no blower noise!
