I'm working on my motorcycle. There is a pipe going into the Thermostat housing, Same setup as the Volvo Waterpump to rear pipe. Working on the Volvo, by the way,was the only way I understood what was going on with this mechanical scenario. On the Volvo, do you slide the Seal on the water pump hole and then put the pipe in OR put the seal on the pipe and then put the pipe in the Pump.. I only did this once.. and I forgot the order. I have the mechanics manual for this Bike but it is Wayyy vague for this maintenance item. Of course the Manual shows super intricate details with Exploded views and Part Number Balloons on how to take two screws out for seat removal. Taking half the Bike apart to get to the T-Stat Assembly AND then find that the entire T-stat Assembly has to come off the Bike to get enough room to pull the T-stat.... No Details just a view of the Assembly sitting on a workbench. I really don't want this to leak after it's all together and Coolant is added.
Yeah, I'm whining.. I shouldn't , The bike is an'87 with 80K miles. All the hardware, although very hard to get to, came off without issue.
