A friend in Lexington has a Rex Regina 1990 (200+K) 740 that needs attention.
I have done what I can over the phone and it looks like a tow to a garage.
Symptoms: Intermitent loss of power over several months. Bogging down when pulling away from traffic lights when the engine is cold. Recently died and he had it towed home. He replaced the distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires, and plugs.
It will occasionally start and run poorly. He has to feather the accelerator to keep it running. Sometimes when he backs off of the throttle it will rev up momentarily before returning to not responding to the increased throttle.
Swapped out the fuel injection relay, the radio supression relay. The RPM sensor cable appears to be in good condition. The spark may be weak- not a nice blue white. Old plugs were black. When running he does not see black smoke at the exhaust or does he smell raw fuel once it stalls.
He is ready to call a garage. What have you got in South Lexington?
