Bought a 1987 244DL last weekend, as-is because it wouldn't start. PO thought it was NSS, as it wouldn't crank (or even try to), had occurred a couple of times in the last couple of months, and cycling from P-L a few times would let it start.

Anyway, bought it last weekend, bypassed the switch to get the car home (figure I'm much rather do it in my driveway than someone elses). This week I took apart the NSS, cleaned it up, put it together, it started right up. Haven't driven it since. Today I was going to go to get a safety inspection on the car. No start, no click, just as the day I bought it. Took out switch, pulled it apart, made sure everything was attached properly, put it back, tried again. Nothing.

Got out the multi-meter. Read 12V at the connector to the switch, Read 12V most times coming out of the switch. Took connector off starter solenoid, read voltage (know in V range (opposed to mV), can't remember value).

Had to run errands, including a junkyard stop for other parts, picked up another NSS switch just to rule out that I had screwed up the switch. Switched out the switch, tried it, nothing. Put the jumpwire back on, instantly turns over. Put the voltmeter on the engine connector, reading ~6.8V, Battery reads just under 12V.

So, now I'm lost. I can jump the starter through where the switch makes the connection (touching battery with jump wire, can't find test wire on this car). I can't get it to crank through the ignition. Any suggestions on where to go now?
