Wife complained of a vibration in her 1995 944, 120K. I checked and felt a very mild vibration, a nice purr, an unloaded new horizontal mill style purr. I searched the threads for possibilities. Brakes, U joints, center support and more. While jacked up I even started the and spun the rear tires, idle only and of course nothing. Shook the drive shaft near the center support and it felt solid but I got some movement using force. Normal I think. Thinking it has to be one of the U joints, rear most likely, I noticed a pinion seal leak, very small as compared to my 1993 945.
Checked and maybe down a 1/2 to 3/4 inches from the filler hole. Added About 1/2 quart with a little overfilled since the back end was up. I quit since it was getting cold. Vibration was gone, at lest for now.
Could that have been the problem?
A side issue solved, filling the differential. I tried a pump, messy, and smaller bottles. Any tubing that would fit over the tapered end of a quart bottle of gear oil will drain about 3/4 into the differential.
Discovery: Maybe 240s some or all have the grease ports in the U joints but this 940 did not. These were solid, no set screws for a tapered grease gun end.

Sorry about the blurred photo, the camera was not wearing glasses.
